Wood has a disadvantage of weight-strength ratio compared to steel and reinforced concrete. Compressed wood is even heavier. The taller the building, the heavier the components of CLT systems

Areas of major waste are raw-material and energy. Both happen at planking stage and when preparing components. CLT design needs highly specialized structural engineering, which reduces wider application

Framing: relative inefficiency

Framed construction has limitations requiring manual assembly. It is low-precision and beset with human error. It demands several steps for raw-material preparation, logistics and assembly, making it inefficient and wasteful

In several ways CLT substitutes behavior of structural concrete or steel without taking [complete] advantage of the properties of wood. It takes several months to plan a multi-story building with CLT

CLV multi-story framing is based off SAM processes. Pre-built additive and micro-laminated frames (not to be confused with “prefab” ) would be a auto-made by SAM machines, directly from engineering CAD as the input. Near-instant production would reduce time of construction by several months
